Are you in Texas? Are you attending this? Are you then attending the Texas State Veggie Fair?
If you answered yes to the first and no to the others you are going to miss out on a chance to try some of our carrot cupcakes, helping save the lives of countless animals, and just having an awesome time!
Hopefully we will be seeing everyone this weekend! If not, you can expect to see some photos of us at these events soon.
We also tried our hand at filled donuts, this one with pumpkin custard.
Have you guys followed us on twitter or liked us on facebook?
We’ve been working hard on our donut recipe (which really means eating a ton of donuts) and its almost there!
We frosted these with a pumpkin spice icing in honor of the autumn theme for the Farm Sanctuary event we are catering. We will be providing these, along with carrot cupcakes. If you are in the Dallas area please come out and support a wonderful organization (and us!)
More to follow.
Donuts!
We are testing our donut recipe further tomorrow and possibly filling some of them with pumpkin custard.
oh. god. yes.
Heres a couple photos Edgar shot of the show!
We have a secret hobby here at Aa. We like to bake things for people we love or for those who inspire us. Its our little way of thanking them for whatever it is they do, and offering up what we do.
Last week we decided to test one of our recipes on our current crushes, La Dispute. The boys were in town supporting Thrice on their latest tour and debuting their newest album, Wildlife. After stalking them via Twitter we received confirmation that most of their van was either vegetarian or vegan.
Our Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies were in their final stages of development and came out beautifully. We dropped them off with Adam Vass, bass player and art dude extraordinaire. We meant to take a photo of him with the cookies, like the fangirls we are, but we were too busy buying all the merch, like the fangirls we are (including a beautiful 4ft banner of the band’s logo we are planning on hanging somewhere when we open our physical location).
The band’s newest album was released the day after the show so we waited to listen to it so we could hear the songs live. And boy did we make the right decision! Everything sounded amazing. Our faith in newer music, and younger musicians has been revitalized. Wildlife is challenging, even within the band’s catalogue, losing a bit of the “loud, quite, loud” approach and letting the lyrics take center stage without losing the intensity, quality, or creativity of the musicianship. Shout outs to Dallas and 1919 in Ft Worth were given and a general appreciation of community was shared.
We are proud to support a band that understands and values how important community is and we hope our cookies made them feel a little more at home. Listen to Wildlife, and if possible, support La Dispute on their current tour (and buy so much merch because it is amazzzzzing!)

What started as a scheme to cover the costs of opening a bookstore has turned into 5 friends working together to open a bakery in Dallas. Using experience gained from working for Spiral Diner-a restaurant in large part responsible for establishing the vegan community in the DFW area, techniques learned from working under macro-biotic chef Christy Morgan, and the help from family members who have been baking professionally (and sometimes we ask Edgar’s grandma) for years, we hope to provide a menu that offers traditional fair-such as cupcakes, cookies, muffins and donuts and also healthier items that are organic, allergy considerate, seasonal and local whenever possible.
All of us came to veganism through different outlets, some through punk and hardcore, others through conversation and a desire to live a little healthier. We are dedicated to seeking ways to further the compassionate philosophy of veganism throughout our community.

Hello and welcome! We have created this blog to document our efforts in opening a vegan bakery in Dallas. It will be full of recipe testing, business planning, location scouting, and updates on when and where our goods will be available, and the occasional song, photo, or kitty that is inspiring us.
Here we go!
